Peep-A-boo Chicks

The younger kids wanted a quick craft to do this afternoon so we went to Pinterest and started looking.

We found a cute clothespin Peek-a-boo chick but we wanted to put our own twist on it.

Instead of using just foam, we used pom poms for the chick’s body and it gave it the perfect touch of cuteness.

These are super easy.

I’m talking you could make several of them in 10 minutes if you were determined.

The only supplies needed are

-Scissors

-Foam sheet (any color you want for your egg.)

-medium pom pom (for the chicks body), and small pom pom (to glue in front of the chicks body to help it have more dimension.)

-Small googly eyes.

-tiny piece of orange foam (for beak)

-glue gun with glue stick

-Clothespin

-Sharpie (if you want to decorate the outside of the egg.)

Start by taking a piece of foam and cutting an egg shape out of it.

You can make your egg as big or small as you like.

Once you get the shape you want to take your scissors and cut straight across (if you have zig-zag or scalloped scissors) to make it look like the egg has cracked down the middle. If you have regular scissors just cut zig-zagged across.

If you want to decorate your egg now is a good time to do it before you glue it onto your clothespin.

Then glue your top piece of egg to the top of your clothespin and the bottom piece to the bottom of your clothespin. Make sure your zig zags line up so it fits nicely together when the egg is closed.

Glue your googly eyes and beak onto the chicks body.

On the back of the clothespin glue the small pom pom to the bottom part of the clothespin, like the picture below.

Then take the chicks body and glue that on top of the small pom pom. (my daughter colored on both sides of her egg so don’t let that confuse you)

If you don’t do this the big pom pom is too close to the front of the clothespin and your chick will get smashed every time you open and close your egg.

Then there you have it your PEEP-A-Boo Chick!

And the kids love to play with it, open close open close. HA!

Oh the simple joys of childhood.

I wish I were entertained that easily.

HAPPY EASTER!
